A wide range of transcription services are available to Rio Rancho customers through Type-thing Services. We excel in each discipline through experience and a diverse staff with domain knowledge and secretarial skills. We have found this to be true because accuracy along with competency in spelling and grammar form the basis for quality transcription. We help you present a professional image by providing proofed, accurate transcription with corrected grammar and spelling. If verbatim content is the goal, we will not alter grammar. Of course, discipline-specific terminology and formatting is required to make our work more efficient and useful for our customers. Phone-in, Audio / Video Tape, Digital Audio / Video Files

Dictation can be performed in a number of formats. We have found phone-in dictation to be the most convenient and efficient for our customers that need to dictate on the go or in an office environment. We'll work to transcribe the format you have, or suggest other beneficial methods! We can transcribe all tape sizes as well as most digital audio files provided to us on disk or over the Internet.

We have Internet services where you can upload your files to us. We can convert most video tape formats (e.g., VHS, SVHS, 8mm, Digital, etc.) to audio tape in preparation for transcription. More information about formats is contained under each of the transcription types listed below and to the left. We have the ability to digitally enhance audio through various computer programs we use to ensure the most accurate transcription.

Service to Rio Rancho includes pick up and drop off your transcription, but we encourage use of Internet file transfers. We can also work with express delivery, U.S. mail, or courier.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality of transcription materials is always considered at Type-thing Services. All of our staff sign confidentiality agreements, and we will sign one with your organization and follow the measures needed to meet your objectives. All paper products are shredded, access to computers and computer files is restricted through password. Data transferred or stored on the Internet is appropriately encrypted as arranged with the customer. With regard to protecting private information (verbal, written, electronic), we follow standards for "Privacy of Individually Identifiable Health Information" in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and its updates.

Rates

Each domain (business, medical, legal, etc.) of transcription usually requires specific methods of costing because of content and required output. Please see the specific page describing that domain or our rates page.

Why is Type-thing Services less expensive and a better value?

We are often asked about the cost of our transcription. Our total cost to you is often less and our overall value greater than our competitors. Here are a few reasons why:

•	We can provide 24 hour to 48 hour turn around in some situations including scheduled regular work or upon notice for urgent work if we have enough capacity (at rush rates).
•	When we charge by the word for medical transcription, you're not charged for many lines on reports or forms that have only a few characters or words. Why would you want to pay a line rate for reports that contain very sparse lines?
•	Transcripts usually require verbatim transcription; however, other business transcription such as letters or medical reports do not. For those, unless you say otherwise, we convert your spoken English into written English, remove redundancies, and end up reducing the word and line count for your finished product. This saves you money. Many other services type exactly what you say, resulting in more cost to you and words you must delete from the finished transcription!
•	When we apply our secretarial skills to convert your documents into final form during the transcription process, you spend less of your time or no time trying to fix faulty transcription from over-seas or less capable services.
•	If your transcription works well in a form or template, then we may be able to set up a system where you are only charged for the parts you dictate, not the entire content of your form.
•	For volume customers, we provide a reasonable amount of stat reports at no charge!
•	If your business or legal audio is of poor quality, we'll contact you before proceeding. We won't create and charge for a useless transcript of "indiscernibles" that you cannot use. If you want to proceed, we can attempt to enhance the audio or spend extra time working through the material slowly at additional expense.
•	We are skilled at providing analysis of your dictation to identify ways to reduce your overall bill. Once we're familiar with your style, we can do this for individuals and offices that have many dictators. Which are verbose? Which are efficient? We can provide suggestions for you or your staff about how to reduce your time dictating and reduce your bill. Why? Many times this also saves us much time listening to long dictations that contain fewer words. If you're happy--we're happy.
